Back Porch Gardening

We have a real, and rather large, garden at my in-law's farm. The soil is great, the rototiller is there, and the ground was already a garden. But it's 6 miles away. I know it's not really that far, but it's nice to have easy access when you're making dinner.

This year I planted green peppers and cherry tomatoes in pots on the back porch, and lettuce in the flower bed. So far they're surviving the crazy squirrels and cats that roam the neighborhood.

We'll see how well this works. Plus, pots are easier to weed than the really big garden. :)

And I decided to start herbs and lettuce INSIDE =) They're looking sorta leggy... might be better with more southern (winter) sun?

I've got some tomatoes and herbs in pots on the back porch. It works. I've had really good luck with tomatoes in pots -- they seem to do better than my tomatoes in the garden. :)
